Your life is boring but your money is as good.


About three years ago I quitted Television...at the time it was mostly about economic reasons but then I started to grow in loving my life without it. Suddenly I started to enjoy reading books more and had enough time of doing other things. I didn't had an edge to catch-up on my favorite programs. news and current affairs I will catch on the net...it was then that I realized that I am becoming less interested in celebrity gossips and who is doing what with whom? I wasn't interested in the lives of the celebrities or their photos.


it was then that I realized that, they are selling us garbage and we are consuming it in large quantities. have you ever realized that when you are buying a newspaper or a lifestyle magazine it is mostly about who was wearing what? where? after that you are less interested. we love tabloid but the question is what are they selling us? they are selling us rotten news. They will show us the pictures of our favorite celebs without make ups and sometimes we see how fat they are. They will tell us who is dating who in the entertainment industry and who broke up with who...really?


the funny thing is, most of the tabloid readers are not famous but they do this thing religiously without failure and they will tell you all the gossip and the latest news in the celebville. The funny thing is that the tabloid readers they are not attractive themselves. And for some reason or the other they are using the same formula but we are always caught on the same web every time. Look sometimes they just choose anyone without a talent and forge them in our throats and we follow them. They will tell us who in Hollywood is growing beard or who in South African entertainment industry is going to perform overseas or in Nigeria!!


Someone once said, "tabloids is a steamy window through which the reader may catch a tiny glimpse of the sexy and exciting world of the stars they admire from a distance." unfortunately we judge them through that window to a point of hating them but we never get to know the real person behind that character. if someone is playing a bubble character on television we assume that we will mmet the same character in real life. I will not say anything about the "reality shows" they are waste of air time.


I wonder how would our world be if gossip magazine would tell the stories of their readers. 'Siphiwe bought amagwinya awu 5...'; " Nana has lost 2 kilos." For us human beings to stop and watch the boring lives of other human beings it means someone between the two has too much time on their hands, perhaps they should consider to use it effectively. or maybe they are so desperate to fantasize about other peoples life's...next time if you find yourself shuffling those channels or reading a gossip section on the magazine do an honourable thing buy a book that is worth your time. And please live your life as you see it fit...it is your life anyways.
